Recent studies have exposed the benefit—even necessity—of spending time outdoors for both for children and adults. When children and adults spend more time outside it leads to fewer occurrences of challenging behaviors in their early childhood classroom. In this 10-hour training, we will learn how to use the outdoor environment and natural settings as an integral part of the learning environment in order to have a positive effect on reducing stress, lessen anxiety, increase attention span, and foster brain development.

In this interactive 10-hour training, infant- toddler- preschool teachers and administrators will learn the basics of sensory integration and how it affects many of the children in our classrooms. We will discuss sensory aspects of the preschool environment that create barriers to participation as well as collaborative strategies designed to create sensory friendly environments where all the children can feel well and do well.
